Dreaming Spires Nordic Walking is an outdoor fitness club, which provides tuition, and regular walks in Oxford and surrounding areas. Kate is a Nordic Walking Delivery Partner with a huge passion for getting people active and enjoying exercising in the great outdoors. Not only do you get the benefits of fresh air and improving your fitness but also making new friends with like-minded people and having fun!

The walks happen in a variety of stunning locations including water meadows, woodlands and along rivers and canals. We often finish walks in a local pub or tearoom so it is a chance to have a good natter over a coffee!

All abilities are catered for and people can go at their own pace and work towards personalised fitness goals with the support and encouragement of the group and the instructor.

Kate Wilkinson (NWUK Delivery Partner)

Kate signed up for a ‘Learn to Nordic walk’ course in January 2012 to fulfil one of her New Year’s resolutions ‘to try something new’ and has never looked back. As a lover of the great outdoors and with a dislike for gyms it seemed like the perfect choice. It is a great way to get fit, explore new places, make friends and ultimately have loads of fun!

Kate is really passionate about encouraging people to be more active and finding a type of exercise, which they enjoy and can become a part of their everyday lives. She believes that Nordic Walking is fantastic because it appeals to people of all ages and abilities and Kate would love to encourage anyone to at least give it a try as she hopes to grow a big Nordic walking community in beautiful Oxfordshire.

Since then she has qualified with a Diploma in Personal Training and as a specialist exercise instructor for older adults. Kate believes age shouldn’t be a barrier to enjoying exercise. Her oldest participant in her exercise classes is 95, which she finds incredibly inspiring.

Eric Imeson (NWUK Walk Leader)

Eric is a retired civil engineer and a qualified Nordic Walking UK Walk Leader.  Eric discovered Nordic Walking in 2017 and thought that it would be the ideal exercise for him and his wife to keep fit.  He enjoys Nordic Walking because it combines his love of the Oxfordshire countryside, exercising in the fresh air and socialising in a pub or café after a walk!

Eric lead walks in the Witney area for walkers who have already completed a ‘Learn to Nordic Walk’ course and have obtained a Freedom Passport.

 

Diana Forster (NWUK Walk Leader)

Diana is a retired digital project manager, artist and qualified Nordic Walking UK Walk Leader. She has practised Iyengar Yoga for 40 years and is a qualified Iyengar teacher. She has always enjoyed walking and was looking for a group to join when she discovered Nordic Walking. This enhanced way of doing something most of us do every day has proved to be the perfect outdoor exercise and a great way to explore some of the beautiful places around Oxford and beyond.
